Ashtanga Yoga is a very popular style of yoga that has its roots in what is sometimes called power yoga, and is a dynamic style that emphasizes a continuous series of poses. Beginning with the Sun Salutation Pose, it continues on with a series of 82 asanas (poses) while focusing on the breath and continues at a vigorous tempo. The roots of Ashantga are said to stretch back 2500 years, and is based on the classic Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the 8 limbs of yoga. It was reinvigorated for the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
